Steve McMenamin

Steve McMenamin is a principal of The Atlantic Systems Guild. He is based in Southern California.
Steve has led outstanding teams since 1987. Steve’s teams have ranged from half a dozen people to over 2,500. Most have been software development teams, but Steve has also led general business organizations, and teams focused on developing business processes that make the most of information technology.
Most recently, Steve was Vice President of Engineering at Borland Software, where he was responsible for five product teams that produced seven Borland products, including StarTeam, CaliberRM, Together, and VisiBroker. Prior to joining Borland, Steve was Vice President, Engineering at BEA Systems, where he led the engineering team that developed WebLogic Workshop, and where he was also responsible for the integration of the products that make up the WebLogic Platform. Steve joined BEA Systems as a result of BEA's acquisition of Crossgain Corporation of Redmond, Washington, where he was Sr. Director of Engineering. Crossgain developed the initial design and prototype that later became WebLogic Workshop.
Steve previously held a variety of leadership positions at Southern California Edison. From 1997 through 1999, he led the team that designed and implemented the changes required by the restructuring of California's retail electricity market. From 1993 through 1997, Steve led SCE's Customer Service Division, which included meter reading, billing, telephone centers, field services, and collections. Steve is also the principal designer of Edison's Customer Service System, and he built and led the team that developed it.
Prior to becoming a manager, Steve was a consultant in the field of information system development. He is co-author of Essential Systems Analysis (Prentice-Hall, 1984), which presents the requirements definition technique that he developed. He has consulted and lectured throughout the world.
