Following the theme „Better Software- and System-Engineering“ my services cover a wide spectrum: starting with examining your current SE capabilities we an go on to strategic planning (for your SE progress), run seminars and workshops to aquire state-of-the-art knowledge. This is often followed by coaching and consulting in your projects to consolidate the training results or by reviews, audits and retrospectives.
For an individual project team the cycle can last from 6 to 12 months. For whole departments with multi-projects the likely period is from 1 to 5 years. At the end you will have a motivated, well trained and succesful team.

Where are you?

(2 - 3 days)
Talking to line managers, project managers and IT-employees we x-ray your system development culture. This is normally done by two partners of the Atlantic System Guild or - if the languages matters - with parterns of Peter's German network.
Result: recommandation for specifc actions and identification of focal points.

Where do you want to be in 1 - 5 years?

(1 - 3 days)
In a joint brainstorming with management realistic goals for the next 12 montgh, 3 years or 5 years (depending on the size of the team and your current capabilities) are sketched. Necessary trainings, tool acquistions, additional flanking provisions and organizational embedding are planned.
Results: a „roadmap“ for the defined period of time with a first overview of efforts and costs

Following up ...

CONSULTING & COACHING

When you learned th basics in one of the above mentionend workshops (or if you have equivalent know-how) I support teams using software engineering methods and processes through coaching or actively cooperating in ongoing projects. This ranges from "tranferring case study results into your projects" to "on-the-job" training for time critical projects. Thus the team has a constant partner to get quick answers to questions and avoid detours.
Normally the consulting rhythm is more intensive right after seminars, e.g. 2 - 3 days a week. After 1 or 2 month it can be reduced to 2 * 2 days a month. After half a year a few days per month or quarter are sufficient. Coaching is cut back depending on the the advances of the team. Often coahing ends with quarterly or semi-annual reviews (see below.)
