John Palmer
John
Palmer was director of systems analysis at Yourdon Inc. when he and
co-author Steve McMenamin published their Essential Systems Analysis, which
set the standard for systems analysis for many years to come. As well as
introducing the notion of the "essential" or "logical"
system, their idea of events gave the analysis world a better way to partitioning
systems. Event decomposition today is used for use cases and business processes.
His recent research includes actor-based approaches to software development.
John Palmer currently works as Director of Methodology Architecture within
the IBM Consulting Group, Mount Pleasant, NY. In this role, John responsibility
includes constructing a comprehensive repository-based methods framework
for IBM consultants. This involves the adaptation and consolidation of proven
approaches from both inside and outside IBM.
John is a frequent speaker at software conferences world-wide, and writes
a regular column for SIGS' Object Magazine. |
